What Is Liturgical Dance?

What Is Liturgical Dance?

Liturgical movement/dancing has two main definitions which we believe them to be:  A Biblical Dance created for a sacred purpose; and the Art of creating in a Biblical setting.

Liturgical Dance can be in Christian services as well as other religions and faith traditions. Liturgical Dance is choreographed. Movements and steps have all been practiced and set in a specific design for worship.

Biblical References:  Exodus 15:20-21, 2 Samuel 6: 12-15, Psalm 30:11

Why Do We Dance?

Why Do We Dance?

This ministry is designed to give glory to God through dance. It is an expression of prayer or worship through body movement. The dancer has an opportunity to express their inner feelings in dance for the Lord, to reach out to others. Liturgical Dance can be a tool to enhance the flow of sanctuary experience

In the Hebrew tradition, dance functioned as a medium of prayer and praise... as expression of joy and reverence… as a mediator between God and Humanity.
